The small hamlet of Faridabad is named after its founder Baba Farid and is known for its forts, mosques and palaces that once adorned the place.
Located on the plains of the Yamuna river this town has lost much of its previous glory. A visit here is sure to question you first as to why you chose this place, trading it for the most popular destinations in the neighbourhood.
But if you stick around and explore then you will see the beauty of this town unravel right in front of your eyes. It has a lot of historic places that sadly lie in ruins, but still do carry the splendour of a bygone era.
Raja Nahar Singh Palace
One of the places to visit in Faridabad is the Raja Nahar Singh Palace, believed to have been built in the 18th century.
The palace is also known as Ballabgarh Fort Palace, as it has a fort surrounding the palace that was even used as a resistance against the British. Tourists coming here can explore the beauty of the palace and be amazed by its artistic architecture.
Surajkund
A tourist place to visit in Faridabad is Surajkund, said to have been created by the kings in respect of the Sun God. It is a popular picnic destination for travellers, and you can also head here to take a dip in its cool waters.

Surajkund Festival
The famous Suraj Kund International Festival is held from 1st to 15th February here. Tourists coming here can experience the colors of rural India through the art and crafts displayed by the artisans and craftsmen. Folk dances, music, acrobats, magic shows take place during the festival.

Farid Khan's Tomb
The tomb of Sheik Farid, who was also known as Baba Farid is here. The tomb has two doors one facing the east the other facing west.
The east facing door is called Gate of Light and the north facing one is called Gate of Paradise. Tourists coming here can explore this tomb and offer flowers at the graves of Baba Farid and his elder son. You must though keep in mind that women are strictly prohibited from entering this place.
Dhauj Lake
The beautiful Dhauj Lake is very well surrounded by greenery. It is the ideal place to head to with your family for a picnic and the more adventurous can also camp here in the wilderness.
How to Reach Faridabad
By Air: Indira Gandhi International airport Delhi is the nearest airport to Faridabad, located at a distance of 30 km. It is well-connected to all the major cities in India
By Train: There are three railway stations namely Faridabad, Ballabgarh and New Faridabad. It is connected to all the major stations in our country.
By Road: It is well-connected by road with the NH-2 passing through the region. You can either board a bus or hire a cab to reach here.
