Namdrolling Nyingmapa Monastery is one of the prime attractions in Kushalnagar. Now a days, it is customary to visit the Golden Temple during the Coorg trip.

The majestic and colourful temple never fails to amaze the tourists; In fact, it gets the name as the Golden Temple from the gold coated paintings that beautify the place. Luxurious interiors with large mural paintings related to Buddhism is also a visual treat.

This temple is a (shedra) religious school and a home to five thousand lamas (Buddhist nuns and monks).

It began as a small shrine built in bamboo sticks; it is now a huge monastery and a tourist place. The three big idols of Padmasambhava, Buddha and Amitayus, are the star attractions in the Padmasambhava Buddhist Vihara (The Golden Temple).

It feels like an entirely different world the moment we enter the premises. Vibrant stalls put up by the lamas come into the picture as you enter through the main gate. The pleasant and clean surroundings in the temple complex give a soothing feel. Before entering the premises, footwear has to be kept in a separate enclosure.
