Do you want to get away from the bustling city and feel the tranquility of nature? Then you must go to Gavi in Kerala. Gavi is a mystic beauty which is surrounded by lofty hills and plush greenery. It is a small forest village which is rich in wildlife and a place for eco-tourism.

Location:
Gavi is situated around 28km from Vandiperiyar in Pathanamthitta district. The distance from Thekkady to Gavi is 40km. Gavi is also a part of Periyar Tiger Reserve, hence animals are a common sight in the region.

How To Reach:
Gavi is accessible through different routes: Private jeeps are available from Vandiperiyar and Kumily which are allowed inside. Buses are operated from Pathanamthitta to Kumily via Gavi.

Private vehicles are allowed inside with permission from the forest department checkpost. The route from Pathanamthitta is scenic. Daily buses are available from Thiruvanathapuram and Kottayam to Vandeperiyar.

Where To Stay:
Gavi is a forest area and none of the private resorts or hotels are there inside. You have to stay in 'Green Mansion', an eco-friendly resort run by the Kerala Forest Department. Tourists have to book before to get accommodation here.

You can also go camping in the forest but with a proper guide. The region is full of wildlife and it is necessary to take precautions.

Food:
Green Mansion has decent one restaurant. If you are camping, carrying food and water is a must. There are no hotels or shops inside Gavi. So, plan well and take all the necessary items for your stay.

Activities:
Gavi is a good place for nature lovers as well as adventure enthusiasts. Travellers can go on nature walks, wildlife safari and photo tours. The surrounding hills provide a good opportunity for trekking and camping. Boating in Gavi lake and Kochupampa lake, a visit to cardamom factory will also keep you engaged in the trip.

Gavi is an awesome place to experience the tranquility of nature. A travel to this mystic land will be most rejuvenating.
