Dodital is a freshwater lake that is popular among nature lovers and trekking enthusiasts. This beautiful location is at the Garhwal Himalayan region, at Uttarkashi district in Uttarakhand. This beautiful emerald lake is one of the spectacular lakes in India. Mythology has it that this is also the birthplace of Lord Ganesha.
Dodi Tal is also known as Dhundital. It is also known as Assi Ganga valley as 80 rivulets merge and form the valley here. This Ganesh Chaturthi 2022 venture out to this trekking destination to pay tribute Lord Ganesha.
Spread across less than 2km of area, the lakes surrounded by thick rows or deodar trees, making it a sight to marvel. One of the popular trek routes is from Sangam Chatti to Dodital which is around 22km. This route can be covered in 2 days, and the level of difficulty varied between easy and moderate levels.
If you take this trek route, you can opt to camp at Agora or Bebra during night. The trek is steep from Agora as it is thick with forests. However, there are a few stay options that you can book in advance, and you may also go for a travel package available that would take care of all your concerns.
Places to See Near Dodital Lake
Apart from this serene lake, there is a temple here that is dedicated to Lord Ganesha. The best time to trek here is during November. Some of the places you can explore on your trip to Dodital are Garhwal, Maldaru lake, Viraatkhai, Yamunotri and Gangotri.
How to Reach Dodital
You can trek to Dodital from Sangam Chatti, that can be easily reached by road from Uttarkashi. Uttarkashi is well connected to all the nearby cities and major cities of India. The nearest railway station to Uttarkashi is at Rishikesh which is around 25km away. You can also avail cabs or buses from Rishikesh to Uttarkashi. The nearest airport is at Dehradun which Jolly Grant Airport, located around 215km from Uttarkashi.
