The mesmerizing town of Fagu is located in the scenic district of Shimla in the state of Himachal Pradesh. Fagu is filled with greenery and has a rich variety of flora and fauna. It is a perfect place for nature lovers and paradise for those who are fond of scenic beauty.

Fagu has many places and spots which would help one to relax and immerse oneself completely in the serene surroundings. The place also serves as a base camp for trekkers. The view of the hills which it offers is simply breathtaking.

Located in very close proximity to the popular destinations of Shimla and Kufri, Fagu is relatively a lesser known place. The town is surrounded by the Western Himalayan ranges in the northern direction and the Shivaliks in the east which also forms the border of Punjab.

Best Time To Visit Fagu

Visit Fagu during the months beginning from October to mid May. During this period one will be simply spellbound by the beauty of the place and establish an instant connection with mother nature.

The hamlet begins from the Hindustan Tibet Road and goes all the way up to the Tibetan border in the Kinnaur region. At an altitude of 8000 ft, it is the highest point in Shimla and is one of the places which are well known for snowfall during the winter season.

The place is far away from the hustle and bustle of city life. It has an ambiance which is truly amazing and makes sure that you get a peaceful state of mind during your stay here.

For the adventure seekers, the dense forests which scale up to higher altitudes give you a chance to explore some of the places which have never seen the footprints of any person frequently.

The nights in Fagu bring out all the lights and resemble a necklace over the Himalayas. The lights are emitted from the settlements of the Theoga tribe which is longitudinally laid out along the slopes of the Himalayas.

Above Fagu one can find the temples dedicated to the local deity of Bhantia Devta. The temples are examples of fine wood carvings undertaken by the local craftsmen.

The Honeymooner's Heaven

The place has a very thinly dispersed population which makes it a honeymooner's heaven. The Autumn season here is quite beautiful and a must-see. The heat of the sun is comparatively less with windy and chilly evenings.

Located between two valleys and apple orchards, the place is an ideal location for skiing during the winter season and an excellent picnic spot during the summer months. Fagu is around 6 km away from the popular destination of Kufri.

This tiny hamlet overlooks the Giri Valley which has a tourist bungalow built right on its peak. If you want to explore the place, well you are free to go ahead on a three-kilometre trek to Chharabra. If you do not want to go for a trek you can enjoy short rides on yaks and ponies.
