In fact, it is not wrong to say that Dapoli is a jewel among the spots in the Ratnagiri district. Interestingly, it remains cool and pleasant throughout the year even though it is near to the coastal region. Hence, Dapoli is fondly known as 'Konkan's Mahabaleshwar' or 'Mini Mahabaleshwar'.

Tourist Places to Visit in and Around Dapoli

There are a number of places to explore in and around Dapoli.

Beaches are the first and foremost destinations to visit in Dapoli. The 50km coastal stretch covering Kelshi, Dabhol and Burondi has some beautiful beaches.

Among them Karde Beach, Kelshi Beach, Murud Beach, Ladghar Beach, Kolthare Beach and Tamas Thirth Beach are some of the prominent beaches in and around Dapoli.

Suvarnadurg Fort is a marine fort located on a small island near the coast of Harnai. It is one of the forts built during the reign of Chhatrapati Shivaji. Suvarnadurg Fort is around 16km from Dapoli and is one of the interesting spots near this town.

Kanakadurg Fort is yet another land fort near to the Suvarnadurg Fort. One can cover both these forts from a trip to Dapoli.

Anjarle is one of the coastal villages about 25km from Dapoli. Ajarle is known for Kadhyawarcha Ganapati Temple on the banks of Anjarle Creek.

Murud which is famous for Murud-Janjira Fort is around 12km from the town of Dapoli. Its serene Murud Beach and the marine fort is worth a visit here.

Dabhol is a port town about 28km from Dapoli. It is popular for Dabhol LNG Power Plant. Dabhol Jetty, Chandika Devi Temple and Shahi Mosque are some of the main attractions in Dabhol.

Panhalakaji Caves is a group of 30 Buddhist caves which is around 30km from the town of Dapoli.

Unhavare is one of the unique attractions near Dapoli. Unhavare hot water springs is believed to have medicinal qualities. Nestled in the lap of nature, this unique destination is around 35km from Dapoli town.

Best Time to Visit Dapoli

Dapoli is an year-round destination but the months from September to January is the best time to visit Dapoli.

How to Reach Dapoli

Dapoli is around 228km from Mumbai and 185km from Pune. You can reach by NH66 or Mumbai Highway (from Mumbai) and take SH 70 (from Pune). Dapoli is well-connected by road. State Run buses are also available from Mumbai and Pune to reach Dapoli.

By Train: Khed Railway Station which is around 28km from Dapoli is the nearest railway station.

Dapoli is a tranquil place with virgin beaches, rivers, heritage structures and most of all the abundant greenery. One wouldn't feel like leaving this serene place.
