Of course, one can do a solo exploration if you are interested. Plan a trip to any of the cave architectures and have an eventful day. Udayagiri Caves holds the architectural marvels of Gupta Dynasty. The reliefs and sculptures carved out of the Udayagiri hills are tremendously beautiful. Several Hindu mythological stories are etched on the walls of these caves. Among them, the carvings of Vishnu's Varaha Avatar is a prominent attraction. Udayagiri Caves are located on a hill named Udayagiri near the city of Vidisha in Madhya Pradesh. Here you can see the rock-cut temples, ruined structures, petroglyphs (ancient drawings on the walls) and sculptures relating to Hinduism and Jainism.

The popular Bhimbetka Rock Shelters consists of art belonging to South Indian Stone Age! Yes, Bhimbetka Caves have the paintings dating back to the Paleolithic age. Legend says that it got its name from Bhima of Mahabharata. However, Bhimbetka Rock Shelters located inside Ratapani Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the famous caves in Madhya Pradesh.

Mythology says that Pandavas built these caves during their exile. In fact, the hill station of Pachmarhi is said to be named after the Pandava Caves. In Hindi 'Panch' means five and 'Marhi' means caves, the Pandavas stayed in this serene hill station of Madhya Pradesh. Today, Pandava Caves are one of the top tourist places in Pachmarhi.

One can find a beautifully carved monolithic temple of Darmarajeshwara in Mandsaur of Madhya Pradesh. The Dharmarajeshwara Temple rock-cut cave architecture with exotic reliefs and carvings. In fact, it some what looks similar to the Kailash Temple at Ellora. The Dharmarajeshwara Temple holds the statues of Lord Vishnu, Lord Shiva, Goddesses Kali and Parvathi. No doubt, it is one of the most beautiful caves of Madhya Pradesh.
