The festival happens in various parts of Assam and the major centre of the festivities is Jorhat district. With its vast tea gardens, Jorhat is one of the top centres for tea industry in India. The Tea Festival is about celebrating tea, conducing meetings to discuss how to improve the tea industry, along with some music and dance.

Assam Tea Festival is organised by Assam Tourism, and the events during the festival include taking tea tours around the estates , playing golf, safaris into the jungles of the state, enjoying the local delicacies prepared by the natives, shopping and a lot of cultural events.

The festival is held every year during the winter season, from November to January. The whole state celebrates the prosperity of tea and also takes measures to protect and improve the production of the same. The visitors are offered with various flavours of tea. As the meetings and conferences are held to discuss the issues faced by the tea industries, the music and dance make the environment light and enjoyable.

How to Reach Jorhat

Jorhat, which is fondly known as the 'Tea Capital of India' is well connected to other cities by road, rail and air. NH37 connects Jorhat to other cities in Assam. Mariani Junction is the nearest railway station to Jorhat, which is around 17km away from the place. Jorhat has a domestic airport from where one can take flights to other cities in the country.
