It is the holy month of Ramadan, and the city of Bangalore is caught in the excited fervour of the festival. Every evening sees people hurrying to get home or one of the popular food destinations of Bangalore to break their fast after prayers. And as for the stalls located in different parts of Bangalore, they seem to be on a high voltage of energy as they swiftly cook a variety of items for the teeming customers. The sheer variety of foods and the tantalising aromas are an assault on the senses!

Here is a look at some of the top areas to head to in Bangalore for excellent street food this Ramadan season. These are the most popular and voted localities where Iftar is celebrated the gourmet way.

And all the hot treats the place offers cannot be better relished than in the fine monsoon weather of Bangalore. The streets are lined up with many small shops and other outlets of more famous hotels in the city catering to one need, delicious-lip-smacking food! The first challenge is to get accustomed to the sea of people walking beside you, but the aroma of the spices wafting in the air will not allow you to escape till your stomach is full and happy. The second challenge is to choose a shop as a starting point and explore as much as possible; and the third challenge is to choose what to eat. With so much variety, primarily meat, every non-vegetarian explorer will be spoilt for choice.

Variety of food ranges from simple samosas to the famed patthar ka ghost, which is mutton cooked on a stone slab in a mouth-watering mix of spices. There are also all kinds of kebabs, biryanis, stuffed parathas, rolls and sweets. By sweets, we mean everything from rasmalai to cupcakes. Be warned that you might not love everything you taste, but no other experience is as culturally rewarding as eating out at these streets during Ramadan. Also don't be fooled into thinking the food will be cheap, the street food here can be as expensive as Rs. 200 for an order of the patthar ka ghost!

With many customers streaming in, a shop can make more than 1000 stuffed parathas in a single evening! This street food area, offers a delightful variety of kebabs and biryanis. Go as early as 7:00 pm if you want to ensure getting a taste of certain popular dishes that sells out quickly. Try the paya, sheekh phal kebabs, mutton kurmas and even camel meat available in some stores. The rates here are considered more pocket-friendly. Make sure you don't leave without having a hot cup of sulaiman tea!

Tilaknagar is another great place to head to this Ramadan, and is well-placed for people living in other parts of Bangalore such as Jayanagar and JP Nagar. This place has some very popular food items, one of them being the simple samosa! An absolute riot, with frenzied customers, shop owners and the general traffic, Tilaknagar continues to draw people in for the great food it offers.
