The city of Tinsukia, located in the Tinsukia district of Assam, is a commercial hub and serves as an important centre for tourists to commute to other places in Assam. It is also known as the business capital of India and is 480 km north-east from Guwahati. Tinsukia, the second largest city of Assam, was also known as Changmai Pathar. However, its ancient name is Bangmara. It was the capital of Muttack kingdom. There is a triangular shaped pond here known as Tinikunia Pukhri. Being the commercial hub of Assam, it produces the best quality of tea and wood products.

The major attraction of Tinsukia is Dibru Saikhowa National Park, which is a biodiversity hotspot and is rich in flora and fauna. It is a home to many endangered species like Gangetic dolphin, water buffalo, white-winged wood duck, slow loris and elephants. The Tilinga Mandir or the Bell Temple is a famous temple and is symbolised by a banyan tree. Devotees visit Shiv Dhaam throughout the year. The Marut Nandan Kanan Park is a famous amusement park in Tinsukia.
