Arattupuzha Temple, Thrissur

The Arattupuzha Temple, almost 3000 years old, is situated about an hour away from the city of Thrissur in the village of Arattupuzha. Dedicated to the Lord Ayyappa, this temple is believed to have a Divine presence.

Devotees flock to worship this powerful deity throughout the year but the most prominent festival to make note of is the annual Pooram held by the temple annually during March-April for a period of seven days.

This grand event is said to host a hundred and one gods and goddesses from the neighbouring villages, who come in reverence of the presiding deity of this temple. On the seventh day of the festival, the deity is taken on a procession to the Arattupuzha river for the ritualistic bath. The temple is open from 5 AM to 9.30 AM and from 5 PM to 7 PM.
