Khatling Glacier, Tehri

Khatling Glacier serves as the source of the river, Bhilangana. This glacier is encompassed by the snow capped peaks of the Jogin Group, the Sphetic Pristwar, the Barte Kauter, the Kirti Stambh and the Meru. A gravel mud wall has been naturally created on either side of the glacier by moraines, which basically refer to the accumulation of unconsolidated rock and soil.

Trekking to the Khatling Glacier starts at Ghuttu, which is well-connected to Dehradun, Tehri, Mussoorie and Rishikesh, by motorable road. The trek route covers a distance of around 45 km through villages, deep Kharsao forests and verdant meadows. Tourists can halt for camping at different spots in the Valley of Bhilangna. The camping accessories can be arranged from Rishikesh, Tehri and Dehradun in advance.
