Travellers are recommended to visit Muthodi Wildlife Sanctuary, counted among the main parts of the Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary, on their journey to Shivgiri. Under Project Tiger, in 1998, this sanctuary was declared as the 25th Tiger Reserve of India. A large number of rare species of animals and birds can be found at this sanctuary, such as tiger, king vulture, gaur and jackal. Along with them, wild dogs, elephants, monkeys, panther, great horned owl, black napped flycatcher and various species of birds are present here. Around 120 tree species are also present in this sanctuary. The great Indian gaur, barking deer, flying fox, mongoose, elephant, panther, macaque, babbler, barbet, blue jay, kingfisher, robin, weaverbird, and drongo have all made their home here.
