Lying at a dizzying altitude of 3,500 feet, the Kaas Plateau has been conferred the title of World Heritage Site for Biodiversity by the UNESCO. The Koyna Wildlife Sanctuary can be seen from here. More than 400 species and varieties of flora, like plants, herbs and orchids can be found here.

The Kaas Talav (Lake) is the main source of drinking water for the city of Satara. This spot makes for a nice visit especially in the post monsoon period.
