This oldest museum in the region of Saurashtra is a must visit destination in Gujarat. Courtesy: its calm greenish environ and the precisest interesting artifacts and paintings it accommodates. Located in the Queen Victoria Memorial Institute Building in Jubilee Gardens, it is named after Colonel John Watson who held the position of the political agent of Kathiawar Agency during 1881 and 1889. While the museum houses an array of Watson's own collections it also includes an interesting numismatics section, artifacts from the ancient history and the Mohenjodaro era and textiles and jewelry used by people of the local tribes to name a few. The museum is open between 9am and 6pm daily and is closed on alternate Sundays and general holidays.
