Situated in the heart of Rajkot, the Rajkumar College happens to be one of the country's oldest educational institutions. Established for the education of the young Kathiawar princes and to groom them into being successful rulers and gentlemen, the college came into existence under the order of the British in the year 1868 and was formally inaugurated in 1870.

Spread across an area of 26 acres, the land is home to a range of beautiful buildings reflecting the old world charm and the college better known as 'RKC' is said to have tutored some famous personalities like Krishna Kumar Singh Bhavsinh (the first governor of Madras state), Ashok Kamte (the additional commissioner of Mumbai Police East Region who got killed in the 2008 Mumbai attacks), cricketer Kumar Sinh Duleepsinhji and poet Kavi Kalapi to name a few.
