Kotilingeswara Temple, Rajahmundry

The Kotilingeswara Temple is located 45 km from Kakinada, near the Draksharamam temple. It is close to the city of Rajahmundry. It was constructed in the 10th century and is one of the principal attractions of Rajahmundry. The temple attracts numerous devotees around the year who come here as pilgrims.

Worship at the temple is believed to wash away all sins from the devotees’ spirit and body. It is believed that Lord Indra after being cursed by Sage Gautama, relieved himself of the curse by installing a Shivalinga at the site of the Kotilingeswara temple. It is believed that Indra attained redemption for his transgression by anointing the Shivalinga with the waters of 1 million rivers.
