Pulicat Weather

Pulicat enjoys a pleasant climate almost all round the year. Months of extreme summer (May) and incessant rains are best avoided though. The period starting from November to February makes the ideal time to visit the sanctuary and engage in bird-watching. Those who want to get a glimpse of the Flamingo Festival should pay a visit during the months of December and January.

Summer

The climate in Pulicat is mostly tropical, and the summers of the region are characterized by intense heat and humidity. Summer season starts in Pulicat from March and is continued till the latter quarter of May. The temperature during this period goes as high as 40°C, and the heat of the day drops drastically during nights. May is regarded as the hottest time of the year and is not recommended for sightseeing or bird-watching.  

Monsoon

Pulicat receives a considerable amount of rainfall from both the Southwest and the Northeast monsoons. The monsoons begin from the month of June and lasts till September. The region enjoys substantial showers in the month of October as well owing to the Northeast monsoons. Monsoon season gives the region a pleasant relief from the unbearable heat from summers.

Winter

Winter season is pleasant and welcoming in the town of Pulicat. The chill of winter starts from the month of December and is prolonged until the end of February. Enjoyable climatic conditions make winter season the best time to visit the town and go sightseeing.
