Port Blair, the capital of the union territory of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands is situated on the South Andaman Island, the largest island group of the Andaman lot. The Kala Paani prison was constructed in the late 1800s by the British colonialists to house Indian political prisoners during their freedom struggle. What makes it so notorious is the gruesome torture techniques used by the British back then which could only be whispered among the general populace.
You might want to visit the famous marine park while in Port Blair which is essentially an assortment of marine activity; marine life and mini-tours spread over a hundred and fifty odd islands. Depending on your appetite for marine life, the tour can be expanded and condensed to last anywhere from a few hours to a few days.
