A scenic town in Uttar Pradesh, Pilibhit is one of the richest forest areas in the state. The town has very high tourism potential, however, the 54 km long border with Nepal poses some grave security issues. Pilibhit is home to some interesting ancient historical monuments that throw light on the culture and tradition of the region. There are also some beautiful pilgrimage destinations set amidst beautiful natural settings.

Tourist Places In And Around Pilibhit

Pilibhit is home to the Pilibhit Tiger Reserve where you can spot the majestic animal. Other natural attractions include Gomat Taal, Devha-Ghagra Sangum and Raja Venu Ka Tila. There is also a beach here by the name of Chuka Beach in the Mahof forest range. The sunset from the beach is a mesmerizing sight. There are several temples and religious sites located in Pilibhit including the Gauri Shankar Temple which is around 450 years old.

Other sites worth a mention include Chhathavi Padshahi Gurudwara, Dargah Hazrat Shah Md. Sher Mian Ki, Jama Masjid, Methodist Church, Ardhnarishwer Temple, and Jaisantri Devi Temple. Old Pilibhit, whose existence can be traced to the 15th century, is very colourful and bustling with people and energy.

There are Express trains that connect Pilibhit with cities such as Lucknow, Bareilly, Agra and Delhi. Private buses and taxis are also available to travel to Pilibhit from nearby cities.

Pilibhit experiences winter between the months of November and February. During this time the skies are clear, days are windy and nights are pleasantly cool, making it the most enjoyable time to visit Pilibhit. The summers can get pretty hot and monsoons are better avoided to travel to Pilibhit.
