Kyunkaleshwar Mahadev Temple, Pauri

Kyunkaleshwar Mahadev Temple was built in the 8th century by Adi Sankaracharya during his trip to Pauri. Situated on the border of the main town, this temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and He is escorted by Goddess Parvati, Ganapati and Kartikeya.

In addition, it is enshrined with the statues of Lord Rama, Lakshman and Goddess Sita. Adorned with the Alaknanda Valley in the background the temple premises offer picturesque views of the snow-capped ranges of the mighty Himalayas along the whole town. The Hindu festival of Mahashivaratri is organised here with much enthusiasm and religious fervour.
