This fascinating sanctuary is located at a distance of 45 km from Palanpur and mainly works towards the protection of the endangered Sloth Bears. Located in the Banaskantha district and covering about 180 square kilometers area, the Jessore Sloth Bear Sanctuary was declared a sanctuary in the year 1978. Apart from sloth bears, the sanctuary also happens to be the dwelling of a range of vibrant birds and wild animals like hyena, blue bull, civet, leopards, jungle cat, porcupine, sambar wolf and wild boar to name a few. The place is located on the Aravalli Hills of Thar Deser. But though close to Thar, the terrains attired with trees in the sanctuary help arrest desertification.
