Nelapattu Bird Sanctuary is located some 20 kilometres away from Pulicat Lake along the East Coast in the Nellore District. It is easily approachable from the city of Nellore and also from Chennai, which lies only 50 kilometres away from the bird sanctuary. This sanctuary is famous as the breeding ground for several rare species of birds. Some endangered bird species that thrive inside this bird sanctuary are the Little Cormorant, Painted Stork, White-Ibis, and Spotted Billed Pelican.
