Karbi Anglong Wildlife Sanctuary, National Parks in Assam

Karbi Analong Wildlife Sanctuaries compose of the East Karbi Anglong Wildlife Sanctuary and North Karbi Anglong wildlife sanctuary. Both fall in the Karbi Anglong district council. Tiger, Elephant, Gaur, Sambar, Bears, Barking deer, Rhesus Macaque, Hoolock Gibbon, Wild Pigs, Lesser Cats etc are inhabitants of both the sanctuaries.

The East Karbi Anglong Wildlife sanctuary covers an area of 221.81 sq km. You will also see many species of the woodland bird in this sanctuary besides reptiles such as Python, Cobra, Monitor lizards, Hill tortoise etc. This sanctuary is one of the most well preserved in the state with the best time to visit being November to April.

It is well connected to the rest of the world with Johrat Airport being the nearest at 110 km. You can also reach here from Dimapur Airport and the LGBI Airport Guwahati.

The North Karbi Anglong Wildlife Sanctuary, is strategically located to the South of the Kaziranga National Park It serves as a haven for the animals of the Kaziranga National Park which migrate during the annual floods.

The North Karbi Anglong Wildlife Sanctuary is located about 90 km from the Jorhat Airport and Guwahati LGBI Airport which is about 220 km. The sancutary is about 205 km away from Diphu, the headquarters of the Karbi Anglong district. The best season to visit the Karbi Anglong Wildlife Sanctuaries is between November and April.
