Bagot, Narnaul

Bagot enjoys a great religious importance. It is located at about 25 km from Mahendragarh. The main claim to fame is the Shiva Temple found here. During the auspicious occasion of shivratri, a big fair is held here.

A large number of people gather here to pray for their wishes. Once their wishes are fulfilled they go to Hardwar a week before the fair and bring back the sacred waters of the river Ganga in two small pitchers known as Kawars. The whole journey to Hardwar and Bagot is carried out on foot.

During their journey, the people don’t put their pitchers on the ground as the belief goes that the water gets contaminated. On reaching Bagot, they sprinkle the water on the stone idol of Lord Shiva.
