The Lalitha Mahal Palace, Mysore
Lalitha Mahal Palace Hotel has the ideally situated 15kms from Mysore Airport and 8kms from Mysore railway station. It overlooks the Chamundi Hills with the sloping and curving valley which is an unique feature of this hotel. In the royal city, the hotel stands with all its might like an Italianate palazzo.
The white palace is double columned and domed. It is set amidst terraced and landscaped garden. Being constructed by Maharaja of Mysore in 1931 for his revered guests, the hotel also adds to the heritage importance.
The experience at the hotel is of kingly status. The majestic building is double storeyed and has an extending porch in the ground floor. The spherical domes have lanterns, and central dome dominates the elevation.
The interior is beautifully decorated with rosewood furniture, precious carpets on marble floors and banister staircase that leads to the upper floor. The central hall is decorated with royal portraits, lithographs of Tipu Sultan, paintings on the ceiling and walls, Belgian glass, carved wooden shutters and various other awe inspiring embellishment.
