It is suggested that the travellers 'must visit' the Regional Museum of Natural History on their trip to Mysore. The museum is situated on the foot hills of Chamundi right on the banks of Karanji Kere or Karanji Lake. Inaugurated on 20th May, 1995, the museum was dedicated to Mother Nature and communicates information about the flowers, plants and animals along with the geological wealth of Southern India.

Visitors can learn more about environment along with the ecological interrelationship of plants and animals. Apart from this, tourists can also gain knowledge about Ecology, Biological Diversity, Evolution and Conservation of Nature.

There are different models, thematic and audio-visual aids exhibited inside the museum. Tourists can visit the museum without paying any cost between 10 am to 5 pm.
