Malappuram Weather

The best time to visit Malappuram is from the month of September (soon after the monsoon showers) to February (before summer heat hits the district) which happily coincides with many festivities of the district. Those who love bird watching should visit the bird watching trails of Malappuram during summer neglecting the heat. However, months of heavy rain and heavy heat are best avoided.

Summer

Intensely hot climate characterizes the summer season in Malappuram district. Like all other parts of Kerala, summer begins in Malappuram from the month of March and is extended till the arrival of monsoons in late May. Months of April and May are the hottest part of the year but ideal for bird watching. Those who plan their trip during summer should not fail to carry cotton clothes and sun glasses.

Monsoon

Monsoon showers hit Malappuram from the month of June, and the region enjoys heavy rainfall for almost four full months till September. The southwest monsoons cause generous showers in June and July. Incessant rains make this season an unsuitable time for sightseeing. Malappuram gets a fair amount of rain during the months of October and November as well from the northwest monsoons.

Winter

Like the other districts of Kerala, Malappuram has an enjoyable climate throughout winter. January marks the beginning of winter and the mild climate is continued till the month of February. Winter is the ideal time to explore the towns of the region on feet and to engage in outdoor activities.
