Mahabalipuram Weather

The best time to visit Mahabalipuram would be from November to February, which is the winter season as the entire ‘Mahabalipuram experience’ can be garnered at this time. June to September see a lot of hot weather and occasional showers that cause traveling and tourist activities to be a chore.

Summer

In summer, the temperature is generally hot and range from 21°C to 42°C. The hot climate is negated to an extent by the cool breeze blowing in from the ocean, but it is advisable to avoid adventurous activities and sight seeing during the days in summer, especially if one is not accustomed to the heat.

Monsoon

A lot of humidity accompanies the Monsoon season and the temperature hovers around the 25°C throughout. Rains are scanty, but an occasional heavy shower might catch an unprepared tourist unawares, so it is recommended to carry an umbrella or a raincoat if visiting during this period.

Winter

The winter season sees pleasant days and cool nights descend upon Mahabalipuram, and the minimum temperature drops down to a very pleasurable 16°C. Sightseeing, temple visits, outings, etc are best carried out during this period as the weather is extremely conducive for such activities.
