How to Reach Lakshadweep
Kingfisher Airlines and Air India offer departures to Agatti island airport from Bangalore and Cochin respectively, two south Indian cities. Furthermore, one of the important islands in the island group, Bangaram also has an aerodrome for interisland travel.
Regular ferry services are available from Cochin to Agatti Island and the ticket charges are usually between Rs. 850 to Rs. 1250. The boats are managed by the Lakshadweep administration. They have various classes of vessels and each of the services is comfortable and air-conditioned. Depending on the type of vessel, the journey takes anywhere between 14 to 20 hours. Some cruise packages also offer Lakshadweep as one of their destinations, which is a cost effective way of getting there and seeing the place.
The Lakshadweep islands cannot be accessed via Road.
