Ladakh is a popular tourist destination which experiences extremes of climate with harsh winters. Summers are however mild and travellers can plan their trip to this region during this time.
(June to September): Tourists are advised to plan their trips to Ladakh during summers as clear skies and moderate climate make the place a perfect holiday destination by giving tourists a chance to explore the various attractions. Temperatures during this time range between 20 degree C and 30 degree.
During Monsoons, Ladakh experiences and average rainfall of 90 mm. The pass, however, remains closed during this time due to land slides.
(October to May): Winters in Ladakh are extremely cold and harsh. Temperatures, during this time, may drop to as low as -28℃. Visitors may suffer frost bites due to freezing weather conditions. Occasional snow fall is also seen in these winter months. As a result, this season is not considered favourable for a visit to the region.
