This Gurudwara is associated with Shri Guru Amardass who visited this place with his family on account of the Solar Eclipse. At that point in time when there was collection of tax if there was a pilgrimage made to a Hindu shrine. The Guru refused to pay the tax, however the emperor allowed him to continue with his pilgrimage.
The gurudwara is a place of worship for the Sikh community and attracts a lot of visitors the year round. Gurupurabs, or birth anniversaries of the Sikh gurus are celebrated with much fanfare.
