The Kumbakonam Railway Station is located right in the heart of the city. The town is well connected by a set network of rails with towns like Rameshwaram, Thirupathi, Kollam and even Chennai. There are a number of trains running between Kumbakonam and Chennai and one can board any of these trains from the Chennai railway station.
