Abbot Mount, Kumaon

Abbott Mount has been named after Mr. John Harold Abbott, who was an English businessman. The place offers the magnificent view of snow covered Himalayan peaks. There are 13 private cottages on the hill, which were built during the British Raj.

One of the bungalows of the hill, situated amid a dense forest of oak and deodar trees was built in the year 1914 by Mr. John Harold Abbott. In order to encourage tourism, many games and activities are carried out in the region.

This mount is easily accessible by a 3 km long trek or drive from Marorakhan or Lohaghat, which is located at a distance of 7 km. Travellers visiting this place can enjoy different activities like fishing, birdwatching, photography and trekking.
