Calicut has a humid summer primarily due to its proximity to the coastal belt. The summer heat begins from the month of March and is continued till the latter part of May. It is not an ideal time to visit the dams and the beaches of the region. August and September constitute Onam season and the city becomes vibrant with festivities.
