Kozhikode Weather

Calicut has a remarkably pleasing climate which enables tourists to visit this place throughout the year. However the months of June and July, when the region is under heavy showers, should be avoided. The best season to visit Calicut is from the month of August (soon after heavy rains) to February (before summer starts).

Summer

Calicut has a humid summer primarily due to its proximity to the coastal belt. The summer heat begins from the month of March and is continued till the latter part of May. It is a good time to visit the bird sanctuaries and beaches. The temperature during summer varies from 37°C to 39°C. It is recommended that travelers who visit the city during summer carry cotton clothes and sun glasses.

Monsoon

Calicut receives extensive rainfall during monsoons which start in the month of June. The city gets heavy shower for about four months until early September. It is not an ideal time to visit the dams and the beaches of the region. August and September constitute Onam season and the city becomes vibrant with festivities.

Winter

Winter season in Calicut is extremely pleasant and rejuvenating. The temperatures during this season drop down, making the climatic condition welcoming. Winter is the best time to carry out outdoor activities such as trekking, beach visits, sightseeing and boating. Travelers can carry light winter clothes for the temperatures may drop a little during nights.
