Pazhassiraja Museum, Kozhikode

Pazhassiraja Museum, situated in East Hill at a distance of 5 km from the city of Calicut, is a must-see spot for practitioners of art and lovers of history. The museum houses a number of valuable articles that take spectators back to the bygone centuries.

There is an Art Gallery next to the museum which elegantly showcases several renowned paintings of Raja Ravi Varma, Kerala’s most admired painter. The works of his uncle are also displayed in the museum. The museum is under the administration of the State Archaeology Department and the items displayed there are sure to kindle the interest of historians, archaeologists and backpackers.

The collection of the museum includes several mural painting, ancient coins, antique bronzes, models of temples, umbrella stones, burial chambers and other monumental wonders. The museum and the art gallery are easily accessible by road. It is open to public on all days except Mondays and public holidays. Visitors are allowed in the museum from 9 AM till 4.30 PM.
