Mookambika Wildlife Sanctuary, Kollur


Mookambika Wildlife Sanctuary, adjacent to Sharavathi Valley Wildlife Sanctuary, is a recommended tourist attraction. Spread over an area of 247 sq. km, the sanctuary has the semi-evergreen, evergreen and moist deciduous forests, covering Western Ghat Forests.

Animals like gaur, slender loris and jackal can be found in this sanctuary. Tourists can also spot different birds, such as scarlet minivet, yellow bulbul and malabar grey hornbill. They can also visit Goddess Mookambika Temple that is located in the vicinity.

The ideal time to visit Mookambika Wildlife Sanctuary is from November to March. Travellers can enjoy camping as well as trekking in this sanctuary.
