Maranakatte, Kollur

Maranakatte is located at a distance of around 16 km from Kundapura en route Kollur. Tourists are recommended to visit this place, which is a home to various temples. There is an ancient Brahmalingeshwara Temple that is known as the place where Goddess Mookambika killed Mookasura and performed Marana Homam thereafter.

The temple faces east and the sanctorum inside it faces the north side. Statues of Vata Yakshi, Malayali Yakshi and two dwarapalakas are placed at this temple. Brahmalingeshwara, Sri Haigluli and Huli Devaru, Chikkamma and Parivaram are the main deities of this temple. Makar Sankranti and Chariot festival are celebrated with great enthusiasm in this temple. Tourists can visit this temple from 6 am to 1 pm and 3 pm to 9 pm.
