Kinnaur is a beautiful district situated in the state of Himachal Pradesh and is popularly known as ‘The Land of Fairy Tales’. The scenic beauty of the place is admirable with snow covered mountains, lush green valleys, ripe orchards and beautiful vineyards. Tourist places in and around Kinnaur

The Sangla Valley and the Hangrang Valley are two of the main valleys located in the region of Kinnaur. The Sangla Valley is known for its beautiful orchards while the Hangrang Valley is noted for its lush green pastures.

Travellers can also see the gigantic Kinner Kailash Mountain, which is the most prominent attraction of the region. Apart from this, one can also roam around in the beautiful village of Kalpa, which is known for its natural beauty.

Shimla is the nearest air base to Kinnaur, which is situated at a distance of around 249 km from the city of Kalpa. The airport at Shimla is connected to several major cities of India including New Delhi and Chandigarh.

The nearest major railhead to Kinnaur is the Shimla railway station, which is about 230 km away from the city. Regular buses for Kinnaur are available from nearby places such as Rampur and Shimla.

Kinnaur weather

The weather of Kinnaur remains moderate throughout the year, and the summer season extends between the months of June and September. Winters in the region starts from the month of October and remains till May, which makes the weather of this place extremely cold. The level of mercury may drop down to sub zero level during this time. While visiting Kinnaur, travellers are advised to carry heavy woollen clothes as the place remains throughout the year.
