Ryewood is a big and beautiful garden that is replete with majestic, tall trees. Situated between Lonavala and Khandala, the etymology of the name is a little tricky. Some claim that the Woods were names after a certain English Officer Mr. Rye, while others suggest that the name Ryewood stems from the Marathi word ‘Rai’ – which means thick forest. The Park is blessed with many varieties of trees that are decades old. In its earlier days, it was a botanical garden that was later converted to a park.
There is an old Mahadeo temple situated here. This garden covers a lot of ground and is open for children to play.
