    Gadiya Mountain

    Gadiya Mountain is the highest mountain of Kanker. It is a natural fort and was once declared as the capital by King Dharma Dev of the Kandra dynasty. There is a water tank situated on the hilltop which never dries up. The Doodh river flows down the mountains.

    There is a legend associated with this tank. The two parts of the tank are known as Sonai and Rupai respectively, which were also the names of the two daughters of the king. It is said that both the daughters fell in the lake and hence, it is named after them as the Sonai Rupai Talab. There is a gold and a silver fish deep under the water, which are said to be alive even today.

    A cave called Churi Pagar is situated on the southern part of this tank. The cave can accommodate around 500 people, and it was used as defence from outer attacks. The Jogi caves are situated on the south-eastern part of the mountains. This narrow cave served as a shelter for the monks for meditation purpose. There is also a Sheetla temple located on this mountain.

    The festival of Mahashivratri is celebrated on the Gadiya Mountain and thousands of devotees visit here.

  • 03Malanjhkudum Waterfalls

    Malanjhkudum Waterfalls

    Malanjhkudum Waterfalls is situated 15 km away from Kanker. The river Doodh takes its course from a point called Neeli Gondi on the mountains. At a place called Malanjhkudum, 10 km away, three waterfalls are produced by the river at heights of 10, 15 and 9 metres respectively.

    The fall of the waterfall appears to be in shape of a ladder. It is a popular picnic spot.

    Charre Marre Water Fall

    The beautiful Charre Marre Water Fall is situated 17 km away from Antagarh in Kanker. On the way to Aamabera, there is a place called Charre Marre. This waterfall is produced by the river Jogidhara.

    The height of this waterfall is 16 m. This zigzag waterfall is a major tourist attraction and a famous picnic spot too.

    Maa Shivani Temple

    Maa Shivani Temple is located near the city of Kanker. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Maa Shivani. It is believed that the goddess is a combination of both Goddess Durga and Kali.

    The idol in the temple is magnificent and is found only here and in a temple in Kolkata. The festival of Navratri is celebrated every year.
