Himalayan Hotel is a heritage hotel in Kalimpong owned by Anglo-Indians. The hotel was the family home of one David Macdonald, who worked with the Younghusband Mission, British government in India and later with Sikkim government.
After his retirement, he turned the family home into a heritage hotel. Today his grandsons run the hotel and continue to offer exotic, royal facilities and services. Nothing much has been altered from the original structure except for the addition of two annexes to accommodate the growing number of tourists to the hotel.
The hotel’s USP lies in its charm and character and the fact that its history is closely associated with the Himalayan history. The picturesque hotel is set against the backdrop of the alluring Himalayas. The large grounds of the hotel offer ample space for walking and playing. The rooms are lavishly furnished with modern amenities; the food served here is a great mix of authentic flavors and international cuisines.
