The Rangeet River is a tributary of River Teesta, the largest river at Sikkim. It originates in the mountains of Himalayas in West Sikkim and flows past the towns of Jorethang, Pelling and Legship. It is a perennial river and obtains its waters from the melting summer snow of Himalayas and the rains of monsoon. The river is a hot spot for river rafting for it has turbulent waters and is thus quite popular among the rafting aficionados. The river also has a National Hydro Electrical Power Corporation (NHPC) hydel power plant of 60 MW capacity.
