Patneshwar Mandir, Jamui

Patneshwar Mandir is one of the famous Shiv temples in Jamui. Legends hold that the temple was once the residence of the Goswami family. One day Goswami saw something shining in woods and on closer look he realised that it was a Shivling.

The temple was finally built in 1711 AD. Every year, during the Hindu month of Shravan, a 2-feet wall of mud is formed around this Shivling and litres of milk are poured over it.

Strikingly, the Shivling never gets drowned in spite of the heavy pouring of milk. Also known as Kamna Ling, this temple is also acknowledged for its scenic beauty and the picturesque river Kiul. The mountains create a natural aura that rules the air of this place.
