Shiv Mandir, Jalandhar

Shiv Mandir, built during the supremacy of the Nawab of Sultanpur Lodhi, is located in Gur Mandi. According to folklore, the Nawab had an evil eye on a newly married Hindu girl, a devotee of Lord Shiva. The serpant of Lord Shiva, Basukhi, is believed to have saved the girl from the Nawab.

The Nawab begged her forgiveness and built this Shiv Temple on her instruction. The front gate of the temple resembles an entrance of a mosque while the rest of the temple reflects Indian architecture.
