Rain is an integral part of Meghalaya and thus Jaintia Hills sees ample rainfall. The monsoon typically starts from the month of June and continues till August- September. It should be noted that due to excessive rainfall, the area sees regular landslides especially on the route to Silchar near Malidor.
The months between November to February are the winter months in Jaintia Hills. It is very cold during the winters with the minimum temperature recorded coming down to as low as 2-3 degrees Celsius. However, sun shines pleasantly throughout the day making it a good time for outdoor activities.
