Tawa Dam, Itarsi

Tawa Dam is built at the confluence of the Tawa and Denwa rivers. It is a huge dam that took two decades to complete its construction, from 1958 to 1978. The importance of the dam lies in the fact that it is the major provider of irrigation to thousands of square miles of farming land in the districts of Hoshangabad and Harda.

Tawa Dam is a sight in natural beauty. The greenery of the place combined with the water turns it into a wonderful spot for Itarsi tourism. The peaceful atmosphere near the dam adds to the charm and beauty of the place.

Tawa Dam is easily accessible from Itarsi as well as from Bhopal. This dam is the third largest one among the dams constructed under the Narmada Valley Project. There are several adventure trekking spots near the dam, and the area is popular as a picnic spot.
