Mahavir Harina Vanasthali National Park, Hyderabad

Mahavir Harina Vanasthali National Park is located in Vanasthali near the city of Hyderabad. The national park is accessible via the Vijayawada road from Hyderabad. This is a deer park where one can spot a variety of species. The park used to be the hunting grounds of the Nizam during the bygone era. It was converted into a national park after India’s independence.

The hunting ground was turned into a park in order to preserve the flora and fauna of the place. Apart from deer, the other animals in the park include blackbucks and porcupines. Water birds include egrets, kingfishers, cormorants, Indian pond herons and short-toed eagles. The park is easily accessible and one can take buses or hire private taxis to reach the national park from Hyderabad. Inside the park one can take shuttle services for a guided tour of the park. There is also a high tower constructed for visitors to catch a glimpse of the animals inside the park.
