Vaishali Mahotsava, Hajipur

The Vaishali Mahotsava is a celebration that honours devotion towards the 24th Jain Tirthankar Lord Mahavir. Vaishali is an ancient village located 41 km North-West of Hajipur. The place is well known for the archaeological sites including Buddha Stupa, Ashokan Piller, Abhisek Puskarani and others.

Lord Mahavir was born in the village called Kundalpur, 4km from Vaishali. This festival is celebrated every year on Baisakhi Poornima, which is the full moon day of the first Hindu Month. Lord Buddha is believed to have blessed the soil of the land twice during 3rd century BC.
