Gurudwara Data Bandi Chhod is the memorial of the 6th Sikh Guru Hargobind Sahib. As per history, Guru Hargobind Sahib was detained by King Jahangir in the Gwalior fort. He was imprisoned for almost two years. He was imprisoned for his militant activities. While he got the release order he requested for the release of 52 fellow prisoners who were Hindu kings.
Jahangir gave the order that whoever holds the robe of Guru will be released. Thus Guru got the name Data Bandi Chhod. In memory of Guru Hargobind Singh, Gurudwara Data Bandi Chhod was built in 1970. It is a famous pilgrim centre of the Sikhs across the country.
